Whether you’re new to yoga or are wanting to deepen what you know, my yoga classes and courses offer you a nurturing space to develop and strengthen your whole self. My approach is holistic, and at its core is all about connection. You will enhance your connection to yourself, understand the mind body connection, and develop caring ties with the women in the group, including me. I deeply believe that we flourish in a loving, accepting and fun environment, and we all gather to cultivate this.
Weekly Group Classes
Beginner I
This class is appropriate for the complete beginner or those with a brief background in other styles of yoga and that are also without major physical limitations. The emphasis in this class is on learning the fundamentals of Iyengar yoga, improving posture and alignment, and making connections between the body, mind and breath. The focus is on standing poses, seated postures, restorative poses and learning Sarvangasana (shoulderstand).
Beginner II
This class is a continuation of Beginner I and is appropriate for beginners with experience in other styles of yoga. We will continue to build upon the foundational postures, including standing and seated postures, and Sarvangasana (shoulderstand). There will be an emphasis on balancing and strengthening postures and working with focus and breath.
Intermediate I
This class is for those who have taken the Fundamentals course, studied with Sivan, or have at least 1 year of Iyengar Yoga experience. Knowledge of the basic standing and seated postures and ability to perform Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) the “Iyengar Way” are prerequisites. The emphasis in this class is on broadening the spectrum of poses to include Sirsasana (headstand), gentle forward extensions, gentle backbends, and beginning pranayama (the art of yogic breath). We will begin to build a home practice to support your yogic development.
Intermediate II
This class is for those who have at least 1-2 years of Iyengar Yoga background and are ready to begin challenging themselves with the next level of yoga postures! Home practice is encouraged and knowledge of how to adapt your practice during menstruation or special cases/injuries is necessary. The emphasis in this class is on deepening the mindbody connection as we challenge our bodies with more advanced postures. We will cycle through the 4 main families of asanas each month (standing, forward extensions, backbends and pranayama), work on independent Sirsasana (headstand away from the wall) and its variations, traditional Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) and its variations, as well as learning some basic arm balancing.
Mixed Levels
In a Mixed Levels class, we accept students from a variety of backgrounds and experience, and adapt to our individual level, both in general, and for how we are feeling that day. Those with more experience will be offered variations to challenge their practice, and those that need more support will be given it. It is important to note that this is not a beginner level class, so if you are a complete beginner, it is best to lay a good foundation in a Beginner class. If you have any questions about whether this class is suitable for you, please contact Sivan.

Private Lessons
These intimate meetings start with a consult and review of your health/medical background, current health, exercise and fitness experience, and yogic goals. After an initial physical assessment is conducted, I guide you in the practice of specific, pivotal asanas (yoga postures) or a sequence that is catered to your needs. We document the postures and/or sequence so that you can practice on your own or make modifications in class. Private lessons are also appropriate for those looking for a more therapeutic approach in yoga; for those who are dealing with or recovering from complex health situations, whereby group lessons are not appropriate.
Special Topics Workshops
In Special Topics Workshops, we have the gift of a longer stretch of time to be able to more deeply explore a concept or topic of interest. Through anatomy lessons, partner work, and of course, our yoga practice, these workshops can spark a new interest, deepen your knowledge, and help you put into practice topics that our weekly classes might only be able to touch on. In addition, workshops are a great way to get to know and interact with the larger Women’s Nurture community!
Annual Retreat
The Women’s Nurture Annual Retreat takes place in the spring. We gather in a lovely location with the collective goal of retreating from the regular demands of our schedule in order to immerse ourselves in wellness…to invigorate and steady our bodies, to deeply nourish and calm our nervous systems, to open our hearts and minds to the other women in the group, and to nurture connection with the most important person in your world…you.
When we quench our thirst for this connection, to allow our needs for quiet, nature, reflection, movement, fun, daydreaming, socializing, and breath to be fulfilled, then our cup truly is filled and can overflow, without fear of scarcity, out into the world.
The importance of retreat cannot be emphasized enough. We are all familiar with family vacations, work trips, or even couple’s getaways. These are important as well, but we should not forget that we also need the opportunity and time to get away from our regular routine to nourish our individual selves, body and soul. To do this without guilt, but with joy, because it so often acts as a reset for our lives, infusing us with energy and positivity to go on with our routines and obligations.
